Book-It Repertory Theatre is a nonprofit theater company that was founded in 1987 in Seattle. It strives to create opportunities for individuals and families to experience the magic of live theater and literature. One of the theater's main goals is to make it possible for more people to see and appreciate the performing and literary arts. They do so by providing varied intellectually engaging shows for all ages. Over the years, the company has won many awards for excellence including the 2012 Governor’s Arts Award and 2010 Mayor's Arts Award.

The story of Book-It Repertory Theatre began in 1986 with a group of actors who wanted to experiment with adapting literature into theater. These actors wanted to give to the community in a fun, creative way that would also have an educational aspect. This is when they came up with the idea for Book-It Repertory Theatre as an engaging way to promote reading books from the great classics to modern literature. They started by performing in schools, community centers, libraries, and eventually they grew to establish their own home in a theater on Westlake Avenue. When the company grew larger, they moved to the Seattle Center, where they entertain and inspire more people than ever before.

Book-It Repertory has been delighting and inspiring people of all ages with theater that is original, imaginative, and accessible. They are committed to the highest artistic standards and to creating an environment that is welcoming to all.
